About Ogaal Party:
After more than fifteen years of discussions about the condition of our country, the problems holding back the Somali people, and why those problems persisted despite repeated changes in national leadership, Ogaal Party was founded in Mogadishu in early 2026.
Ogaal Party was founded by men and women who closely studied Somalia’s challenges, conducted deep research, and developed pathways for overcoming them. Ogaal stands for justice, security, livelihoods, economic growth, good governance, and the citizenship rights of the Somali people. One purpose of Ogaal is to provide Somali youth with a lawful platform through which they can achieve both their immediate and long-term aspirations.
The word “Ogaal” comes from the Somali language and means understanding, awareness, and knowledge. The party sees itself as a political platform built on informed leadership, accountability, the rule of law, and public participation.

Leader of Ogaal Party:
Abdulkareem Hassan Jama is a Somali politician and scholar with extensive knowledge of politics and state-building. He is the leader of Ogaal Party, a new political party advocating reform of government institutions, stronger national unity, and governance grounded in knowledge and reliable information. He is also among the candidates standing in Somalia’s 2026 presidential election.
Before formally entering party politics, Abdulkareem Hassan Jama held several important roles across government, academia, and research:
He served as Somalia’s Minister of Information, Posts and Telecommunications.
He served as Director General of the Presidency and Senior Adviser to the President of Somalia, playing an important role in state-rebuilding efforts.
He was among the founders of Somalia’s leading policy research and analysis institution, the Heritage Institute for Policy Studies, and served for many years as Chairman of its Board.
He was also among the founders of City University of Mogadishu and served for many years in its senior leadership.
Abdulkareem Hassan Jama’s political outlook emphasizes national reconciliation, strengthening federalism, expanding economic opportunities for young people, fighting corruption, and building effective public institutions.
